Labor day weekend, Tyler and I traveled to the CA to attend a couple of weddings. We left on May 21st and drove to Lake Tahoe for Jessie and Johnny's wedding. I had so much fun in Tahoe. I got to see a bunch of friends that I haven't seen in years! Some of my very favorite people were there, including Neva, Jessie's mom, who was like another mother to me in high school. She had me laughing most of the time. How I've missed her. All the "bros" were there as well. That was kinda fun to see the group back together again. Bob didn't even recognize me when he walked past the first time. It's been awhile. They're a good group of guys and I'm glad that I got to chat with all of them for a minute or two. It was also good to see Justyn again and hear about her life. She brought her roommate, Cara along, and she's a pretty cool girl. She danced with Derek. It was really cute.
The wedding was beautiful. Jessie looked gorgeous. I've always held Jessie in high regards but she's really grown into a beautiful person. She's giving, accepting, and still just as fun as I remember. Johnny's sure a lucky man. Jessie looked so happy. I was looking at her and thinking that I've never seen her so happy. She had this look of pure joy on her face. It was incredibly touching and cute.
I did feel a little bad because I was in the wedding party and kept disappearing to feed Derek. I was worried about how the little bug would do, but he did really well. He slept most of the time and was generally happy when he was awake. Tyler was amazing at keeping him happy. Everyone loved his tie onesies that his Aunt Shanda made him. Thanks, Shanda!
Here's a picture from the reception:

We left Tahoe right after the reception so that we could get into Tehachapi before midnight. About an hour into our drive we came to a minor complication. They closed the highway because of a fire. We sat there for three hours.
Here we are sitting in the parked car:

We finally made it to Tehachapi. My Aunt Roxy and Uncle Ron were in town and we went to breakfast with them, my mom, and Woody. The girls then went to Bakersfield to buy some supplies for the wedding and the boys went home and relaxed. That night Tyler and I were treated to dinner by Woody and my Uncle Ron, they took us, my Aunt Roxy and my mom to the County Club in Bear Valley. Good food and good company. What more could you ask for?
The morning of the wedding we had lots to do. I made the bouquet and arranged flowers, directed the caterers, and we narrowly escaped a disaster involving ants and the cupcakes. The wedding was beautiful. My mom looked really happy and that was pretty awesome. I have a new step-dad! The ceremony was performed by Bishop Haub and it was really beautiful. I'm just so glad that my mom is happy. We're happy to welcome Woody into the family.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Austin!

We hung out another day in good ol' Tehach. It was good to be around family. We went to lunch the next day with my dad and sisters. Then we went to Bakersfield with mom and Woody to look for a new car. We bought one! We now have a black, 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. Thanks for the help mom, dad, and step-dad! I forgot to take a picture of it. It is wonderful.
The next morning we went home with our routine stop in Las Vegas to visit with my grandparents. It was my grandma's birthday! It was Derek's first time meeting his Great Grandma and Grandpa Walker. He adored them. He was all smiley and charming.
To sum it up we had a great Labor Day weekend.
